Eid al-Adha Prayer (Kurban Bayramı)
The Eid al-Adha prayer is a confirmed sunnah performed on the morning of the 10th of Dhul Hijjah. It follows the exact same structure as the Eid al-Fitr prayer — 2 rak'ahs with 3 extra takbeers in each.
Niyyah (Intention)
Prayer Structure
1st rak'ah: Opening takbeer → Subhanaka (silently) → 3 extra takbeers (lower hands between each) → Al-Fatiha → Surah → Ruku → Sujud. 2nd rak'ah: Al-Fatiha → Surah → 3 extra takbeers (lower hands between each) → Ruku → Sujud → Tashahhud → Salam.
Between each extra takbeer, lower your hands to the sides briefly. After the 3 extra takbeers in the 1st rak'ah, clasp hands and begin Al-Fatiha. In the 2nd rak'ah, go directly into ruku after the 3rd extra takbeer.
Subhanaka
Recited silently after the opening takbeer, before the 3 extra takbeers (1st rak'ah only).
Tekbiri Teshrik (Takbeer of Tashreeq)
Recited aloud immediately after every obligatory (fard) prayer from Fajr on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah through Asr on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah — 5 days, 23 prayers in total.
