Eid al-Fitr Prayer (Ramazan Bayramı)

The Eid al-Fitr prayer is a confirmed sunnah (sunnah mu'akkada) performed on the morning of the first day of Shawwal. It consists of 2 rak'ahs with 3 extra takbeers in the 1st rak'ah and 3 extra takbeers before ruku in the 2nd rak'ah.

Niyyah (Intention)

Nawaytu an usalliya lillahi ta'ala salata 'idil-fitri (iqtadaytu bil-imam) ada'an, Allahu Akbar.

Prayer Structure

1st rak'ah: Opening takbeer → Subhanaka (silently) → 3 extra takbeers (lower hands between each) → Al-Fatiha → Surah → Ruku → Sujud. 2nd rak'ah: Al-Fatiha → Surah → 3 extra takbeers (lower hands between each) → Ruku → Sujud → Tashahhud → Salam.

Between each extra takbeer, lower your hands to the sides briefly. After the 3 extra takbeers in the 1st rak'ah, clasp hands and begin Al-Fatiha. In the 2nd rak'ah, go directly into ruku after the 3rd extra takbeer.

Subhanaka

Recited silently after the opening takbeer, before the 3 extra takbeers (1st rak'ah only).

Note: (اِقْتَدَيْتُ بِالإِمَامِ) is used only for the fard prayer when praying in congregation (with an imam).
