Duha Prayer (Kuşluk)

The Duha prayer is a voluntary Sunnah prayer performed in the mid-morning after the sun has risen fully. It is called 'the prayer of the righteous' and carries tremendous reward.

Niyyah (Intention)

نَوَيْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ لِلّٰهِ تَعَالٰى صَلَاةَ الضُّحَى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، اَللّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ۞
Neveytu en u salliye lillahi teala salatad-duha rak'ateynı lillahi teala, Allahu ekber.

How to Perform

Duha is prayed in pairs of 2 rak'ahs — minimum 2, up to 12 rak'ahs. Each pair is performed like a standard 2-rak'ah prayer (Subhanaka → Fatiha + surah → ruku → sujud → tashahhud → salam).

Timing

Duha begins approximately 45 minutes after sunrise and ends about 15 minutes before the Dhuhr prayer. The best time is when the sun has reached its midpoint between rising and noon.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever prays the Duha with two rak'ahs will not be written among the heedless. Whoever prays four, among the devout. Whoever prays six, they are sufficient for him that day. Whoever prays eight, Allah records him among the obedient."
Note: (اِقْتَدَيْتُ بِالإِمَامِ) is used only for the fard prayer when praying in congregation (with an imam).
